What a great day it turned out to be. For the few who may read this and don't know what fair Day is about, it's essentially One Huge Picnic in the early part of the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival. It's held in Victoria Park, Camperdown and people from all walks of life seem to show up.
I volunteered in the Medical Tent and became quite adept at applying Band-Aids to blisters on heels from ill fitting boots. The Medical Tent was directly across from the Bayswater Gym stall, where buff guys were handing out leaflets wearing shoes and skimpy shorts. I do have a great pic that I will share in a future post.
I met quite a few mates there, Rodney, Mark and Brendan were there, I ran into Josh, I met Simon and his man Chris and a mate whom I haven't seen for about 10 months, David the South African Jew (Absolutely no disrepect intended), he's a wonderful guy who has been ill lately and has been travelling to Israel and South Africa over the past months, so it was great to finally see him again.
After my volunteering duties were over, I quickly downed 7 much needed beers and with Stefan, Rodney, Mark and Brendan we headed to The Bank Hotel for some dinner. The Thai food there is exquisite, while the youngins continued to drink, Stefan and I went back to his place to watch TV, I wanted to catch some "So you think you can dance" and Stefan likes to watch Brothers and Sisters.
The weekend was overall a great one. On Saturday, I drove down to Kangaroo Valley to watch a Dog show. Gwen, the lady who bred my two female Miniature Bull Terriers was there with some Dachshunds and a Male Miniature Bull Terrier. Due to the two breeds clashing on the show program, I showed "Butch" for her, he didn't get Best of Breed but showed quite well, I'm going to show him for her at the Sydney Royal Easter Show this year.
It was a nice day, not too hot and the rain held off. I won't go into my poor navigating, I still can't believe that I got lost getting there and going home, but both times, I found myself surrounded by beautiful green undulating pastures with trees and many cattle. I did find my way home eventually. I hired 2 movies to watch, the first on I had seen previously, it's a Swedish movie called "As it is in Heaven" lets just say it's very emotive and I'm glad that I was home alone as it turned into Tear Fest 2008, since stopping me Anti-Depressants, I'm so much more emotional, I've cried 3 times over the past 6 weeks, I hadn't cried since 2001 and before that I hadn't cried since I was 8 years old. The second movie was sad but quite enjoyable, it was called "Year of the Dog" despite Molly Shannon being the lead character, it was not a comedy, it was a movie that I didn't anticipate would be good but I didn't expect it would be bad, I really enjoyed it.
A great weekend was had, I'm grateful for the life that i have, I'm one lucky person.
